Minnesota
We’re home! Some of you know that already, but some of you may be wondering if we’re still sitting in Amsterdam waiting for the volcanic cloud to lift. We were on the last flight out of Amsterdam (or one of the very last) before the airlines started shutting down flights. It was beginning to feel a little like someone was conspiring against us getting home… first the cabbies on strike in Athens and then a volcanic explosion of all things. But, we were extremely fortunate, and I am so grateful that we made it out when we did. I supposed we would have made the best of it if we had been stuck there – gone visiting the tulip gardens and the Van Gogh museum – but we were both ready to be back, so it’s good we were able to do that.
I have had my Chipotle burrito; although, I think it’s going to take a couple more before my craving is satisfied. I have hugged two of my sisters and my Dad and am on target to do some more hugging soon. We are on the road even as I speak (type) to visit Jeff’s mom, with a stop on the way to see his sister at St. Ben’s. Jeff will get his fix of Ernie’s chicken tonight (a Melrose favorite, and quite probably THE best fried chicken around). Our calendar is filling up with dinner and lunch and coffee dates to catch up with friends and family. The roses have been uncovered, the peas and lettuce are planted, the neighbors have been greeted (well, some of them anyway), laundry is well on its way to being done, the weather is glorious and the house is being neglected while we do all these other things.
It is good to be home.
