For the drive back to Sydney, we allowed time to take the scenic route, which for us means driving along the ocean. We stopped for lunch at a point that has a lighthouse and a wide rock beach. Not a beach with lots of little rocks. This beach was basically one big rock slab, and the waves pounded it hard. We found a little spot out of the wind to have our lunch, then spent the rest of our time getting as close to the spray as we could without getting swept away. We got some great photos, got windblown and covered in salt spray and loved every minute of it.
As always, I am so grateful that Jeff and I enjoy so many of the same things. The ocean pulls at us in a way that nothing else does. There is a wonderful sense of being part of something much bigger than ourselves when we stand before a pounding surf watching the amazing energy in the curl of the waves and the incredible explosion when it hits rock.
What a great way to wrap up the trip.
